4,000 – 5,000 Litre Water Tanker Truck
Four to five thousand litres is the entry size in our water tanker truck line — a 4x2 chassis that suits urban dust suppression, small-site watering and municipal routes with frequent refill points.
Over 10 years of manufacturing excellence, trusted by clients in 50+ countries.
At 4,000-5,000 litres (roughly 1,050-1,320 US gallons), a water tanker truck is small enough to move through construction sites and narrow streets that a larger unit can't reach, and light enough that most 4x2 chassis carry it with room to spare on the gross weight limit. This is the size fleets pick for spot dust suppression, small-site compaction watering and municipal routes with hydrants close together.
It is also our smallest standard water tanker build. Below this range, most of what's sold is a bolt-on tank for a pickup bed rather than a purpose-built truck — if that's what you're after, it's outside what we manufacture. For anything from 4,000 litres up, we build the full truck: chassis, tank, pump and spray system as one unit.
Truck or Trailer at This Size
A tank this small runs as a rigid water tanker truck, not a semi trailer — there's no advantage to towing a separate trailer for 5,000 litres, and a rigid truck is more manoeuvrable on job sites and doesn't leave a tractor unit idle while the tank fills. If your fleet needs to move past 20,000 litres, that's where a water tanker semi trailer starts making sense instead — see our 20,000 litre water tanker trailer for that build.
Carbon Steel or Stainless
Carbon steel is the default and covers dust suppression, irrigation and non-potable use — lower cost, easy to repair anywhere. Stainless steel is for drinking water and anything a health inspector checks; it costs more but doesn't rust internally the way carbon steel does under repeated fill-and-drain cycles. If the water is for drinking, order stainless.
Spray System and Chassis
Every unit ships with front spray nozzles for direct dust knockdown and a rear sprinkler bar for wider coverage on repeat passes, run off a PTO-driven centrifugal pump rated for continuous duty rather than occasional use. At this tank size a 4x2 chassis is standard — HOWO, Shacman or FAW, matched to whatever brand you already run elsewhere in your fleet to simplify servicing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 5,000 liter tank the same size as a 5,000 gallon tank?
No — liters and US gallons are very different scales. 5,000 liters is about 1,321 US gallons, which is our entry-size truck. A 5,000 US gallon tank is about 18,900 liters, close to the top of our truck range (20,000L) or the bottom of our semi trailer range. Tell us which unit you actually mean and we'll point you to the right size.
Do you build a water tanker smaller than 4,000 litres?
Not as a purpose-built truck. Below roughly 4,000 litres, most water tanks sold are bolt-on accessories for a pickup truck bed rather than a dedicated water tanker chassis with its own pump and spray system — that's a different product category from what we manufacture.
Carbon steel or stainless for a 5,000 litre tank?
Carbon steel for dust suppression, irrigation or non-potable use — cheaper and easy to repair. Stainless for drinking water or anything inspected, since carbon steel tanks carrying potable water start rusting internally within a year or two of service.
What is the delivery time?
Typically 20-25 days from order confirmation for a standard 4x2 build. We quote CIF to most African, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian ports.
