Wind Blade Trailer
The SIGMA wind blade trailer is an extendable semi-trailer built to carry wind turbine blades from 40m up to 80+ meters long, using a hydraulic self-steering rear bogie and a rotating blade tip adapter to clear tight curves, roundabouts, and narrow site access roads en route to wind farm sites.
Over 10 years of manufacturing excellence, trusted by clients in 50+ countries.

Overview
Transporting a single blade the length of a football field means the trailer has to solve problems a standard flatbed never faces: the load overhangs the truck by tens of meters, and the tip has to clear obstacles on roads never built for that length. SIGMA's wind turbine blade trailer telescopes to match the blade's length, then uses a hydraulically steered rear bogie to track the tractor's path through curves instead of cutting across lanes. A rotating adapter grips the blade root and tilts it to lift the tip clear of embankments, signs, or oncoming traffic on narrow rural roads leading into a wind farm.
Features
- Telescopic frame extends to match blade length from 40m up to 80+ meters
- Hydraulic self-steering rear bogie tracks the tractor's path through curves and roundabouts
- Rotating blade tip adapter tilts the root end to clear embankments and signage on narrow roads
- Remote-controlled rear steering lets an operator correct tracking in real time on tight turns
- Reinforced Q460 steel frame absorbs the concentrated point load at the blade root cradle
- Adjustable cradle height matches blade root diameter across different turbine models
- Compatible with escort vehicle and route-survey planning used on wind farm logistics runs
- Standard 7-way trailer plug wiring and LED lighting circuit for escort vehicle coordination
Applications
- Wind farm construction and blade delivery
- Wind turbine component relocation between sites
- Port-to-site wind energy logistics
- Blade repair and return-to-factory transport
- Offshore wind staging yard transfers
- Escorted abnormal load transport on rural access roads
A Wind Blade Trailer Built for Extreme Overhang
A wind blade trailer carries a load that can be four or five times longer than the trailer itself, since a modern turbine blade runs anywhere from 40m to over 80m. SIGMA's frame telescopes to support the blade along its length rather than leaving most of it unsupported overhang, and the deck height is kept low to maximize clearance under bridges and power lines along the transport route. Where the same convoy also needs to move the tower sections or nacelle, a lowbed trailer or heavy-haul SPMT typically handles that part of the load out of the same staging yard.Steerable Rear Bogie for Curves and Roundabouts
The biggest obstacle on a wind farm delivery route usually isn't weight, it's geometry: a rigid extendable trailer this long cannot follow a curve or roundabout without cutting across the opposite lane. SIGMA fits a hydraulically steered rear bogie that a rear-seat operator controls independently of the tractor, so the trailer's tail tracks behind the tractor through the turn instead of swinging wide. This is the same rear-steer principle used on our extendable trailer range for long structural steel and pipe, adapted here with a higher steering angle for the tighter turns common on rural wind farm access roads.Wind Turbine Blade Trailer Capacity and Tip Clearance
Blade root diameter and weight vary by turbine model, so the wind turbine blade trailer's cradle height and clamp width are adjustable rather than fixed. The rotating tip adapter is the part that does the real route-planning work: by tilting the blade root end up or down, it lifts the free tip clear of embankments, road signs, or oncoming trucks on roads that were never built with a turbine blade in mind. Route surveys typically map every tight corner in advance so the driver and rear-steer operator know exactly where the tilt will be needed, the same planning used when moving tower sections on an RGN trailer.Wind Farm Logistics From Port to Site
Most wind blade deliveries start at a port or rail yard and end on an access road never designed for abnormal loads, which is why the trailer, escort vehicles, and route survey all get planned as one job. SIGMA builds the trailer to work within standard abnormal-load permit limits in the destination country, keeping deck height and overall width inside common thresholds so the shipment needs fewer special permits. Fleets already running a tractor truck rated for heavy-haul work can pair it directly with the wind blade trailer without needing a separate specialized tractor for wind logistics.Get a Quote
